"Expressive Bodies - Contemporary Art Photography from The Kinsey Institute"
October through November , 2007
Herron Gallery at Herron School of Art and Design

Carolyn's photo collage titled "Devotion", which is held in the permanent collection of The Kinsey Institute for Sex, Gender and Reproduction, traveled to Indianapolis, Indiana, for an exhibit titled, "Expressive Bodies - Contemporary Art Photography from The Kinsey Institute" held at the Herron Gallery.

"This exhibition of original prints from the collection of The Kinsey Institute surveys the use of the photographic medium by contemporary artists to express ideas about sexuality and gender, and to explore the visual impact of the human body. The sexual and gender identity of the photographer sometimes plays an essential role in the creation of a work, or it may be incidental to the artist's creative process.

Expressive Bodies featured works by established artists such as Laura Aguilar, Erwin Olaf, Herbert Ascherman, Pierre et Gilles, Judy Dater, Joel-Peter Witkin, Herb Ritts, Arthur Tress, Michal Macku, Ivan Pinkava, Lynn Bianchi, Robert Bianchi, Mariette Pathy Allen, Michael Rosen, and Frank Yamrus, as well as talented photographers at the start of their artistic careers. This exhibition contained nudity and sexual imagery and appropriate for adults only.

The art collection at The Kinsey Institute is renowned for its extensive holdings in vernacular erotic photography, much of it produced anonymously for private use or commercial distribution. Expressive Bodies is the first exhibition from The Kinsey Institute to highlight its growing collection of prints by contemporary fine art photographers from around the world." - The Herron Gallery
